Treatments during IVF

Depending on where you are in your IVF journey, there are a number of treatment options available to support you during your IVF cycle. These treatments are designed on an evidence based protocol published dec 09 in Fertility & Sterility Journal, Magarelli Cridennda Protocol designed to:

  • Reduce stress, normalize hormone levels and enhance your well being
  • Enhance blood flow to the reproductive organs
  • Optimize chances of getting pregnant and more importantly a live birth
  • Minimize symptoms associated with ART treatment, including ectopic pregnancy

Below are some of the suggested treatment options. A program can be altered to best accommodate your different situations and individual needs

Two treatments on the day of embryo transfer along with a course of treatment the weeks leading up to IVF transfer and continuing after, you have options available to you that are the most up to date. Please contact us for a detailed schedule of the treatment protocol used to assist you in evaluating how to correctly schedule acupuncture support with your IVF cycle.

Acupuncture On The Day of Embryo Transfer

Treatment: Two treatments based on the most recent research using acupuncture with IVF

The first treatment is given 25 minutes before your embryo transfer and the second treatment is given 20 minutes post transfer. Both are given in your RE’s office or surgery center or in our office if need be. It’s important to schedule this treatment as soon as you have your transfer appointment time to be sure a time can be secured on priority. 

Cost: Includes both treatments on day of embryo transfer $275

Acupuncture Support for IVF

Treatment: This is a twelve week program based on proven research conducted over the course of 9 years involving more than 800 patients. After an Initial consultation acupuncture treatments begin once a week for two weeks. Then two treatments per week for six to seven weeks before egg retrieval for a minimum of 9 treatments plus treatment at the time of embryo transfer

Cost: Initial consultation and treatment: $125.

Per treatment for approximately 16 treatments: $80.

Clinical trials have shown that acupuncture treatment before and during IVF increases blood flow to the uterus and ovaries (research). In addition, acupuncture appears to regulate fertility hormones which may contribute to follicle development and increased implantation. These trials reported increased pregnancy rates based on this protocol. (reference)

Acupuncture three days after egg collection if going to blastocyst (day five) embryo transfer

We recommend that you have an acupuncture treatment three days after egg collection to help prepare a calm environment for the arrival of an embryo for day five transfers.

This treatment can be combined with the programs above.

Treatment: One treatment 3 days after the egg retrieval

Cost: $80

Acupuncture for frozen embryo transfer (FET) including donor eggs

Cost: Initial consultation and acupuncture: $125
Follow-up acupuncture per treatment: $80.

Treatment: Two treatments per week for six weeks before embryo transfer, plus treatment on the day of transfer.
